One LED Light fitting fits all
In this project the Cree XSPR replaced all 64 of the existing High Pressure Sodium. The new light fittings brightened up this sleepy country town; making it safer and increasing security for residents and visitors alike.
Using the existing poles meant pole spacing and mounting heights were predetermined. Some light fittings were on shared poles. These power line poles have a small outreach arm for the light fitting attachment.
In order to be viable in this project the LED streetlight solution needed to meet the budget and reduce maintenance and energy costs.
The Cree XSPR light fittings were supplied with field adjustable output drivers. This enabled the Gisborne City Council to customise light fitting outputs to suit various applications around the town where and when they need to, helping to enhance the area and increase security and safety. The standard 27 Watts was increased to 50 Watts around intersections and the school.
At only 4.6 kgs it was possible to retrofit these lightweight fittings directly onto the shared pole without having to upgrade the arm.
The XSPR is an affordable option with fantastic energy and maintenance cost savings for the Gisborne City Council estimated at $9000 a year.
