Celebrating Success! Abhishek selected for IEC Young Professional Programme.

Abhishek Wali – Senior Lighting Engineer at Advanced Lighting Technologies NZ has been selected to attend the 2016 International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) Young Professional Programme (YPP). Engineers from around NZ put forward their applications for the YPP to Standards NZ and from these applications Abhishek Wali from ADLT NZ and one other industry professional was selected which was approved by the IEC. Lighting Council NZ was also supportive in the application process. Abhishek will travel to Frankfurt, Germany to participate in the 80th IEC General Meeting in October this year. The YPP will allow Abhishek to interact with similar young professionals from various industries and will learn about Standards and Conformity Assessment. This is a significant achievement for both Abhishek and for ADLT NZ to be on the global stage.

The IEC is one of the oldest and most recognised Standards organizations in the world. Technical experts from around the world collaborate at these events and help develop the IEC Standards. Standards NZ is the NZ National Committee of the IEC and many local Standards such as joint AS/NZS 1158 Road Lighting Standard are part of Standards NZ and they use international IEC Standards.  NZ were an early adopter of exterior LED technology with ADLT NZ being the pioneer and educator to many clients and there are valuable learning experiences to share. The rapid rise of LED technology and smart controls reduces cost, saves energy, minimizes damage to the environment and is a safe option for the public.

ADLT NZ supports Abhishek in his goal to utilize his skills and experience in LED lighting to help in developing new Standards in the future.  Abhishek is looking forward to this event and is excited to learn as much as possible.
